He’s Making a Way & We Are Just Following

Since the day I (Karlee) moved to Puebla, Mexico, to begin my journey as a missionary in August of 2020, God has never ceased to amaze me with all of His plans that have been revealed throughout the years. And quite honestly... God has already begun to reveal His plans for us this year.

Erick and I have always said that we will faithfully walk in the direction that God is leading us. Sometimes it doesn’t make sense, sometimes we don’t see the whole picture, but we know that if it is from God, He will always provide for us.

Well, God opened a new door for us as a family. After praying about it, Erick has felt like God is leading him back to Esperanza Viva to serve as a full-time missionary with Living Hope (just like me). He will be serving in the school as a physical education teacher (what he studied in college) at Nations School. This school is right on Esperanza Viva Youth Home’s campus and serves over 200 children: those who have been rescued and brought to live here at the orphanage, children from the community, and children on scholarship who are seeking to break the cycle of poverty.

Nations School is also one of the very few Christian schools in Puebla, Mexico, and being part of helping kids grow, learn, and come to know Jesus is something that is close to Erick's heart.

As for myself, I have been serving in the Marketing Department for a couple of years now. Recently, they have given me the responsibility to lead the Marketing Department for Living Hope. One of my big assignments sole purpose is to raise money to meet the urgent need of expanding our facilities that will result in rescuing more children and providing hope for entire communities. I will also be able to continue to share stories of impact and invite individuals to visit on a mission trip to Esperanza Viva and help connect individuals to sponsor a child in our program.

I have been personally serving as a Missionary since December 2020 but began as a Full-Time Missionary family in February of 2024.

The Puzzle.

Karlee’s FIRST BLOG post.

Lots of people seem to say everything happens for a reason. I’ve never found myself discrediting that statement because I completely believe it. However, someone once told me that life is more like putting together a puzzle. That really stuck for me & got me thinking further.

Each puzzle piece is created out of love from our wonderful Maker. Some of these puzzle pieces are designed through:

  • experiences we’ve had

  • conversations / stories shared

  • people who have come in your lives and stayed through it all

  • those who simply come into your life for a little while just to leave some sort of mark on you (positive or lesson learned)

  • what brings your heart joy

  • etc.

Throughout life, we piece all of these together. Sometimes, it seems as though the puzzle is a 10,000+ piece puzzle that (if we are all honest) doesn’t even look like a puzzle & if you are anything like me…you may not be a puzzle person.

Let’s face it, puzzles take a LOT of time. You HAVE to be patient. You may hit your knee on the bottom of the table which jumbles up all the pieces again but nevertheless, you CAN’T quit because you know it will be a beautiful & wonderful creation.

Especially when you come across the really special pieces. The thing that I am learning is that each piece is equally beautiful but that special piece, that special piece gives you insight and shows what the puzzle could be.

<In other words, it could be Your Purpose. >

You find yourself not needing to squint your eyes as hard or turn your head.

Well, I found one of those pretty special puzzle pieces the past year. The piece that made me relax my squint and take a moment to step back, looking in awe at the wonderful puzzle God is creating specifically for me.

Many of you may know and have even been in some of my puzzle pieces. Some may know my really special puzzle pieces too. My special puzzle piece recently? Getting the call to head to Esperanza Viva to serve for a longer period than a week long mission trip.

This blog is going to share thoughts, experiences, feelings & lessons learned throughout the next 6(+) months. A special thank you to all those who are reading & going to follow His journey for me. I am just about 3 weeks away from heading to Esperanza Viva. Stay tuned while I keep finding those puzzle pieces. Every day brings me one piece closer to His beautiful vision.

Blessings,

Karlee
